Leona Lewis Performs 'Trouble' On 'The X-Factor'

Sunday, October 7, 2012

Nothing says trouble and danger like Leona Lewis dressed up in an "I Dream of Jeannie"-inspired purple get-up.

Today, Leona visited her ol' stomping grounds when she performed on the talent show she won six years ago, "The X-Factor" UK, singing her latest single "Trouble" from upcoming album "Glassheart."

The vocals were a little shaky in parts, but she definitely tightened things up after the bridge and brought the song home in the end with a powerful belt (something sorely lacking in the anti-climatic studio version of the track).

Leona is a very technical singer, but she rarely evokes emotion. For a song like "Trouble" - she is not only the polar opposite of danger but she cannot convey the lyrics of the song through her vocals or stage presence. It all just doesn't feel authentic...in MY opinion, of course.

  1. That's also my qualm about her live performances: they lack presence. She's better behind-the-scenes; and that's the paradox: she's physically striking. As an artist she's hit-n-miss, which is good if you have a patient fanbase. In no way is she a revolutionary artist but at the very least she's a legend in the making.
