Christina Aguilera's album "Lotus" will open at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 with 73,408 copies sold, which is UNDER the projected sales figure of 75K - 80K from earlier last week. Uh oh. And yes, that's even less than what "Bionic" opened with (110,000).
One Direction will debut atop the Billboard 200 with their album "Take Me Home," which sold 538,628 in its first week. The sales figure tops Justin Bieber's first week numbers from his sophomore album "Believe" earlier in the year. While Bieber Fever has far from cooled, maybe we need to take a closer look at who the true leaders of this teenage music resurgence really are...
Lana Del Rey matched her sales projections - her "Born to Die" re-release "The Paradise Edition" sold 66,225 in its first week. The original release of "Born to Die" sold around 77K in the United States opening week, so Lana definitely held up well. It'll be interesting to see how she does with her next album.
