Seems there was a change of heart.
Today, Miss Fenty took to Twitter to confirm that the official, worldwide second single from her No. 1 album "Unapologetic" will be the Mikky Ekko-assisted ballad, "Stay."
As expected, Rihanna also confirmed that "Pour It Up" has been officially sent to urban radio as the urban single and that a music video for the song is "the plan."
Looks like Rihanna has two smash singles in the making. I'm ecstatic about "Pour It Up" and the upcoming music video, its quickly become one of my favorite songs from the album and the potential for that song is endless.
As for "Stay," normally I would say that releasing a ballad after a mid-tempo is sort of anti-climatic and won't perform well but I think Rihanna is one of the few artists that can find success with pure piano ballad in today's radio climate...especially since it was just confirmed that Rih will be performing at the Grammy's ceremony next month! Work that promo.
The demand is growing for a club-smash from Rihanna this era, so I believe her label is playing this right. Everything sets up well for the multi-format smash "Jump" as the official third worldwide single just in time for summer and the VMAs.
"stay" was always the official second single though...

i hope the video is "classy" as fuck, just to gag everyone, and she saves the real ratchet shit for the eventual "jump" video next summer.
I need the PIU video to go hard as hell. I want that puss puss to be virtually falling out ha outift.
