Has Britney Been Working On Album 8?

Thursday, October 25, 2012

A few weeks ago during a live stream with her fans, Britney confirmed to the always delightful Bradley Stern, aka MuuMuse, that she had "not yet" thought about the sound or direction for her eighth studio album - but evidence is starting to build proving otherwise...

First, when Britney got the call telling her what team she would be mentoring on the X-Factor USA, she was shown in the recording studio with Rodney "Darkchild" Jenkins ("He About to Lose Me," "Overprotected [Remix])" right by her side.

Now, a tweet from "Blackout" producer Danja says that another collaboration with Britney is "coming."

Now granted, we all know Britney records dozens of tracks during her time off that eventually get sent to the future Posthumous album bin, or tossed aside for the annual leak of unreleased Britney tracks commonly known as "Britmas" -- but she typically records 'for fun' with experimental producers and artists. Surely, she's not paying studio fees just to 'experiment' with expensive producers that she already has a strong working relationship with...

Let's delve deeper into the rabbit hole here, Album 8 is Britney's final contractual album under her current label RCA (which absorbed Jive in 2011). It has been confirmed during testimony in the Lutfi v. Spears trial that there have been discussions between Britney's manager, Larry Rudolph, and former Jive CEO Barry Weiss, currently CEO of Universal Music Group, to sign Britney under the Universal Music Group label for the next phase of her career.

With the bidding war for Britney driving the costs of signing her sky high, maybe team Britney has decided to press forward with knocking out the final contractual album so Britney can sign her major new record deal while she's still one of the hottest, youngest and most successful commodities in pop music - coming off the momentum of X-Factor USA.

One more thing...

Danja and Darkchild are fairly similar when it comes to their work with Britney - emphasis on raw vocals and they lean more urban sonically. This definitely shows SOME sense of musical direction when it comes to creating a cohesive body of work.

Story developing...

    1. Sorry honey boo boo! Martian didn't have enough time to blog about S&S, but he did tweet information about the track though:

      - "More complex than just a build up and a break down."
      - "It's more uptempo. Higher pitched synths."
      - On autotune: "lmao typical. I mean not as bad as the blackout days but it is a dance song"
      - Hit Or Flop: "Hit. I mean if Starships can make the top ten surely S&S will."

  4. i doubt she is, but even if she was i doubt we'd get an album until late next year or early 2014, which i'm fine with. i'm just glad she seems genuinely happy and alive again.

i really believe she's going to wait until after her wedding before she undertakes another project of that scale (recording, promo, touring).
