Details on Katy Perry's 3rd Album!

Sunday, July 22, 2012

Katy Perry has revealed some details on what we should expect from her third album. According to Perry's interview with Capital FM. Much like just about every other pop star who wants to be taken more seriously, the album will be darker than her first two LPs.

According to Katy the album will be a "black box" that will reveal her darkest secrets.

Check out the interview below.

Hello Kitty Kats!!! Katy Perry has teased the first details of her upcoming third album!!

Katy says she wants her next record to be like the ‘black box” of her life and has hinted that the album may be about some of her biggest secrets.

“I would love to just let it be the black box of who I am,” Katy told Capital FM this week, ahead of premiering her documentary film Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D in the UK.

With all of the drama she has had from her split from husband Russell Brand she said she expects it to be much “darker” than “Teenage Dream” as it’s only natural that those experiences would find there way into her music.

She does however admit she is in a much happier place and could never write an album solely about heartbreak and sadness like Adele’s “21”.

“I’d never devote a whole record to heartbreak,” she revealed. “I’m happy, I’m in a good place, I’m looking forward to my future”.

I'd be down for more "Circle The Drain" tracks. It was my favorite from Teenage Dream, but I doubt Katy will stray from her radio friendly sound. She's going to come for Rihanna's wig first and get tons of #1 singles.

  1. Can't wait for the Gaga fans to call her a copy cat just for making darker sounds. That being said, Katy dear, don't play with fire. The only mainstream artist capable of doing "darker" sounds these days is Gaga, and that's her game.

    1. LOL Gaga dark... She is just trying the same as Katy, and she failed, BTW even with the #1 spot on the BB is a bad album

    2. Yes, Gaga is dark. It doesn't take a genius to listen to Bloody Mary or the entire Fame Monster to notice that. In a world of Bubblegum pop, what Gaga does is considered darker. She is in NO way trying the same as Katy. She could have just released a series of repetitive silly pop songs if she wanted to. But no, she took a risk with Born This Way and became the second best selling album of 2011, with three Grammy nominations including Album of the Year (ever heard of it?)

  2. When she says "dark" does she mean BTW dark? As in tryin to hard to be taken seriously that you fail. Or dark as in Blackout dark, where the music was more urban and the whole concept was a twist on pop music? Cause if it's the latter I might be up for it. By the way. I'm not even a fan of either but yeah dark Gaga is not good,so Katy restrain yourself from that please.

    1. I'm not fan of either of them, but I hardly consider BTW to be a failure. Three Grammy nominations, for Top 10 hits, a record breaking tour, 8 million copies sold worldwide, the world got to see Gaga's real powerhouse vocals (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlE2q4SCH7c), etc. If Katy is up to becoming a recognized and respected pop star by other artists such as Cher, Beyonce, Paul McCartney, Sting, Tony Bennet, etc, as Gaga is, she should try new sounds, not the useless pop jingles she's releasing that will get her nowhere besides Billboard (which isn't saying much).

    3. The Fame Monster is Gaga's dark album, Born This Way was just a collection of what Gaga wanted to make, the album is quite sucessful considering it wasn't intended to be as popular as it was, the album booklet even states it's just for her little monsters.

If Katy is going into this dark era with her dark album she's going to have to brace herself for all the Gaga comparisons big time. Because no matter how much she'll make it her own it will be compared to Born This Way.

  5. I hope she does like Gaga's Fame Monster and not Gaga's Born This Way. I loved Bloody Mary or Bad Kids from Gaga but they are not radio friendly. I love Katy because she has big messages with likeable music
