Of course, every year about this time we start hearing rumors about Britney appearing on the Grammy Awards or something of that nature... well, since we know Britney isn't a huge fan of that show (and she got like 0 noms this year) we can conclude that won't be happening. Instead, we're getting an downpour of rumors that Britney will be featured on some albums this year... and while we know some are probably fake, we want to look at the hit potential of a "Feat. Britney" track.
The first rumor that came up was Nicki Minaj:
Britney and Nicki have already done a song together and it landed at #3 on Billboard's Hot 100. Since Nicki's new record is supposed to be more hardcore, this could potentially bring us the hot urban Britney we've been longing to see since "In The Zone."
Likelihood - Very little. This would be very big promo for Nicki and I doubt they would do this without it being the first single and we know Britney hasn't been around Nicki lately (unless they recorded the song while touring).
Second, Sabi:
Sabi was featured on Britney's album and we all know Dr. Luke is super desperate to make her happen... but I don't know how I feel about this. It could be good for Sabi, but if the songs sucks, it would just look bad for Britney. Sabi has had one or two songs I've enjoyed, like "Wild Heart," but I will never forgive her for ruining "Drop Dead Beautiful" with her line about fiber rich greens.
Likelihood - Hard to say, but I can definitely see this happening... even if it's just a Britney sample.
The Queen, Madonna:
This rumor is new and huge. Madonna is expected to make a huge splash this year and we all know that there's no splash bigger than her 2003 smooch with Britney and X-Tina. Their first duet, "Me Against The Music," was huge in the US, but it charted decently. This could be their chance to ride each other to the top... and I'm sure the video would be just that.
Likelihood - High.
Bassmaster will.i.am:
Yes, Yes, Yes! I need this in my life. My love for "Big Fat Bass" is infamous, so these two getting back together would be a dream for me. I am going to start praying for this every night.
Likelihood - Hard to say, again... but these two have been randomly and publicly keeping in contact with each other, so I wanna think the chances are good.
Finally, Christina ...
God, I wish this rumor would die. As much as I would love this, we've been waiting for a decade and the rumor always comes and goes.
Likelihood - None.

ReplyDeleteBritney has worked with all of these people (minus Xtina. Which like you, I don't believe will ever happen). It's risky, because if any of the collaborations are worse than the originals fans will be bitch till their jaws cramp. I can envision Britney & Madonna doing something worthy of a second collaboration.
