Shakira's French Chart Takeover with "Je L'aime À Mourir"

Friday, December 9, 2011

Shakira is huge everywhere, except the US where her success is moderate. Most recently, she leaped to the #1 spot on France's iTunes charts with Je L'aime A Mourir. I have no idea what the song is about, but I heard it for the first time today and it's beautiful! Check it out after the jump!

  3. Like I said, she has moderate success in the US. She has had random breakout hits, but when it comes to competing with US acts within the US, she hasn't been consistent in her last two albums.

  4. The original french song is called "je l'aime à mourir" (I could translate it with a neologism "I love her death-perately"), the spanish title means the same ....
And you are right, this song is (in french or spanish)very beautiful

  5. Hello,
I'm french and the song was written in the 7O's, I think. It was a hit of Francis Cabrel a very very famous french author and singer. Song is a love song. I'll try (juste try ;) ) to give ou a translation:
I was nothing and now I'm her night sleep keeper
    I love her to death
You can destroy all you want
She'll just have to open her arms to all rebuild back
    I love her to death

She did rub out the figures of the district's clocks
She turned my live in paper hen,
    in roars of laughter
She built the bridge between us and the sky
And we cross on then, each time she cannot sleep
    I love her to death

She must have done every war
    to be so strong today
She must have done every war
of the life, and the love too

She tries her's best to live her opalin dream
She dance in the middle of the forest she draws
    I love her to death

She wears ribbons she lets fly away
Often she says I'm wrong to try to hold them up
    I love her to death

To go up to her cave
    hidden under the rooves
I must klue (musical) notes under my woody clogs
    I love her to death

    I just must sit down
    I must not speak
    I must want nothing
I must just try to belong to her
    I love her to death

    I hope it'll help

When my daughter (4 years) saw live in Paris, she says "Mam! Look at the beautyful princess!"
