Tomorrow, Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded" re-release "The Re-Up" hits stores, but last week, when the album leaked, speculation sparked after this verse from Nicki on track No. 3 "Hell Yeah."

"Shout out Mike Darnell and Nigel" -- Mike Darnell is a President at FOX TV where American Idol airs, Nigel refers to Nigel Lythgoe who is Executive Producer of American Idol.
"Why they gotta feel a wrath to know who Nicki is?" Obviously the 'wrath' refers to the meltdown Nicki had on Mariah during Idol auditions.
The diss is obviously hurled at Mariah Carey....but calling her "boring as f-ck," "cut throat" a "bitch," and a "bum" seems a bit much, no? Whether this feud is being blown out of proportion for publicity or not, shouldn't a relatively new artist such as Nicki Minaj have more respect for a hugely successful industry veteran that paved the way for Nicki's career and the careers of many that came after her?
No matter how you try to spin it, I just think it's un-called for and it looks really unprofessional. It's extremely immature for a 30-year-old woman. Yes, rap disses may be part of "the culture" - but disses blatantly directed toward your fellow television co-star is really tacky.....can't say I'm too surprised, this IS Nicki Minaj after all.
I'm sure Mariah remains un-bothered though. Nicki's attempt at calling someone out has nothing on Eminem's scolding hot rap diss toward Mariah from a few years ago.

you guys are really too hard on her. the bottom line is Mariah disrespected Nicki first. So Mariah being a huge star has nothing to with it. If Nicki was a dude going against a dude nobody would care. Dudes do it all the time and rap about it in their songs. But when a female does it shes disrespectful? makes no sense.

ReplyDeleteYAWN, Mariah is irrelevant. They are both wrong. It doesn't matter how long Mariah has been in the game, recently her track record is as shot up as 50 Cent. She was the shit in the 90's kinda picked it back up with the emancipation of mimi and E=MC2, but she's not gonna take off again. Her time to retire has come and she needs to respectfully hang up her wig. We all know if you cross Nicki, you get checked. I feel Nicki is wrong for capitalizing on it, but that's how she gets her cookies.

Nicki said in her E special that Mariah was giving her passive-aggressive remarks and attitude since day one on the job because Mariah didn't want another female popstar on the panel. She's a bitch and diva, and thought Nicki would just take it like everyone else in Hollywood. Clearly Mariah got called on her bluff and I hope she continues to be dragged through the dirt by Nicki!
