American Music Awards Performances!

Sunday, November 18, 2012

This year's award show featured performances from P!nk, Ke$ha, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift and more....

Below are all the relevant performances from tonight's show and my brief thoughts on a few of the performances!

Each performance is listed in order from best to worst, in the opinion of yours truly (of course):

Martian will just have to kill me later, but Carrie Underwood's performance of "Two Black Cadillacs"  wasn't the night's best performance. That honor goes to P!nk, who delivered an amazing live re-creation of her "Try" music video. Spot on vocals, breathtaking choreography and great production value - just an amazing performance overall. MUST WATCH.

P!nk - "Try"

P!nk is continuously pushing boundaries in her live performances. She's an extremely underrated entertainer. Slayed. Best performance I've seen in a long time.

Ke$ha - "Die Young"

Where did that performance ability come from, Ke$ha? While it wasn't the most polished performance of the night, Ke$ha definitely gets an A++ for effort and is one of the most improved pop stars in terms of live vocals and stage presence! The tribal breakdown was hot.

Taylor Swift - "I Knew You Were Trouble"

Taylor Swift ditched the guitar...and the country sound, for that matter - and it worked during her performance of dubstep-sprinkled "I Knew You Were Trouble." Taylor Swift was rolling on the ground, moving around, working the stage and I was loving it - she's becoming a bonafide popstar. Much like Ke$ha - her live vocals are no longer 'mute' worthy, and while it wasn't the most technical performance of the night, the elaborate production kept me entertained.

Kelly Clarkson - "Miss Independent" / "Since U Been Gone" / "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" / "Catch My Breath"

I loved the whole concept - showing Kelly's journey from talent show contestant to global superstar. Kelly's talent is like a fine wine that only gets better with time. Her vocals were spot on as she took us back down memory lane singing her signature tracks.

Justin Bieber - "As Long As You Love Me" / "Beauty and a Beat"

Justin Bieber's acoustic of "As Long As You Love" me was surprisingly decent and heartfelt. Nicki Minaj looked STUNNING when she came out to perform her verse on their collaboration "Beauty and a Beat."

Psy - "Gangnam Style" (with special guest MC Hammer)

Carrie Underwood - "Two Black Cadillacs"

Usher - "Numb" / "Climax" / "Can't Stop, Won't Stop."

No Doubt - "Looking Hot"

Nicki Minaj - "Freedom"

Christina Aguilera - "Lotus" (Intro) / "Army Of Me" / "Let There Be Love"

No shade or mal-intent about Xtina being this low. I loved the message, but there was nothing that stood out from this performance.

Carly Rae Jepsen - "This Kiss" / "Call Me Maybe"

  4. i know i'm not the only one who loves making comparisons of aguilera and other artists so... here i go:

-her crew for the "lotus playback" (sorry, intro) looks like kylie's in "all the lovers"
-what a horrid tone of pink
-the stars outfit was a cheap version of britney's in circus era
-she had to recycle her trash of the "your body" video set
-how does she pretend to inspire and mark a style for new generation artists doing that??
-her "army of me" performance KILLED IT

hahaha love her, i'm just having fun, also loved the PIG bag!
