Hot 100: Christina Aguilera's 'Your Body' Drops 30 Spots

Thursday, October 4, 2012

As anticipated, today we would find out how far Christina Aguilera's lead single "Your Body" would slide down the charts -- and the news isn't good if you're a 'Fighter.'

"Your Body" which debuted last week at No. 34 didn't just slide, it free fell down the Hot 100, 30 spots down to No. 64. "Moving faster, than slow," indeed...right down the Hot 100.

Honestly, "Your Body" is a hot track and it doesn't deserve to have such a tough time attempting to climb the Hot 100 (or iTunes for that matter, No. 39). The music video, which was released last week, alleviated some of the bleeding on iTunes, but not for long - especially with newer releases shoving it down the charts.

The sad thing is that "Your Body" has had fairly decent exposure so far in its life. Outside of radio giving the track a chance with healthy radio spins during its first week, the song and video were previewed to 10 million viewers on "The Voice" - and Christina has had interviews with "Access Hollywood" and "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" where she has name dropped the track.

Sadly that exposure would work wonders for someone like Britney, but Christina needs to book a stage and deliver a solid performance of the song. RCA needs to stop acting as if Christina is an artist that can drop a temporarily self-sustaining single with little promotion, until the album is about to drop and all the necessary promotion can be done at once.

There are no excuses at this point for the song falling so far. We'll see how it does next week and if the music video factor helped its sales in any way. Or else, I finally get to use my nickname for it "Dead Body."

Below are the answers to last week's burning Hot 100 questions, as well as the full Hot 100.

  2. the reason Xtina is flopping is because people don't like her. Let's be honest, the song was produced by hit-maker Max Martin, the same guy behind some of pop's most successful songs. The problem isn't the music, it's the Artist. She doesn't come off as charming/likable. How is it that Britney can release a song with zero promotion and debut at #1?

    1. True, true. Not surprised though, "Dance For You" is the best song and video from "4."

Had she released "Dance For You" and "Countdown" as her lead singles...she would have shat.
