Tonight, Ciara's performance of new single "Got Me Good" will air on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' - but the performance was recorded last night and we have fan-footage of the performance, including a full version of the song. Does the early impression of "Got Me Good" silence fears of another disappointing single?
The chorus definitely knocks and I loved the live interpretation of the track with the guitars (which likely isn't in the final recording) and real drums, however the track seems abit dated and been there, done that - especially for Ciara, since it shares some similarities with her 2006 hit, "Get Up."
"Living It Up" and "Overdose" showed a fresh and progressive sound for Ciara - songs that had multi-format appeal, especially on the almighty pop stations. "Got Me Good" won't see life outside of urban radio and most likely won't see the Hot 100.
It's crunch time for Ciara's career and it's really confusing to me why her labels continue to insist on marketing like this. At this point, L.A. Reid should raiding the Britney Spears demo bin and stop giving her these crunk-lite tracks that probably don't even represent her as an artist anymore. Another thing, I don't give a damn about your personal life and barring your soul to the audience on the radio. "Sorry," but save those tracks for the album.
At this point, I think it's time to start giving us the pop-ish tracks. How many more "Ride's," "Sweat's," "Sorry's," "Never Ever's," and "High Price's" do we have to endure before she gets the memo?
The high quality version of "Got Me Good," with accompanying music video, will premiere tonight at 8 p.m. ET on VEVO. The song will release to iTunes on November 5.
I think it's cute and she actually sounds good.
