Marina's 'Teen Idle' Video Concept

Got bored at the barber shop today. Wrote this. Haven't done one in a long time! Enjoy...

The video starts Marina running really quickly through a wooded area. You can hear her feet hitting the ground and her loud panting. The camera slowly pans upwards her face. When it reaches her face her mascara is running and she's obviously been crying. She finally reaches the highway were you can see a town. She starts walking into town as the camera moves uowards and you can see her walking into the town wiping her eyes. She whispers, "I can't believe I loved him."

The camera quickly flies back through the woods to a bonfire where a bunch of teens are laughing loudy. One girls says, "She was literally crying." A guy next to her follows, "You should have went after her. She's gonna try to tell and we'll probably get into trouble." The crowd begins to laugh loudly again. The camera focuses on one guy and zooms in on his face as he giggles and says, "I'll handle it."

The song begins with Marina staring blankly at herself in a vanity mirror, combing her hair in sync with music. She is wearing a white dress and cross necklace. The scene is black and you can't see anything but Marina and the mirror. She closes her eyes as she sings, "I wanna be an idle teen..." and the scene changes to a high school hallway. You can see Marina shyly peaking around her locker at the guy from before as he talks to another girl who is very fit and blond. The pair see Marina staring and glare at her. She slams her locker and walks away quickly.

As the chorus begins we are back in the black room. Marina stands up and starts walking to the right. She walks past the guy, who is tied up and gagged in a wooden chair, caressing his face with her hand softly as she walks past. The camera shows her smiling lovingly at him. There is a cross cut out of the back of his chair. He is struggling to get his hands free. His face reads more determined to get free than panicked. She walks to a window and peaks out. She looks disappointed and closes the curtain, turns around and smiles at the boy again.

At the top of the second verse the scene cuts back to the school again, this time she is in a classroom. The girl from the hallway purposefully bumps into Marina while she's writing causing her to ruin her paper. She looks up and has a frustrated and defeated look on her face. She erases some marks and begins writing again. The camera shows she is writing a list of names. The scene switches back to the black room on the line, "I wanna stay inside all day..." where Marina is walking back towards the boy. She sits in his lap, takes a firm grip of his hair, pulls his head back and whispers in his ear, "I wanna be a real fake!"

The chorus starts again and Marina gets up and walks back to the vanity mirror. She opens a drawer and begins to dig through. The scene fades and shows her following the guy to his car behind the school. She watches him get in his car and drive off. He looks in his rear view mirror and sees Marina standing in the middle of the lot singing, "Come alive."

The scene changes back to the dark room where she walks back to the boy. She bends over to him and mouths the bridge, "I wish I wasn't such a narcissist..." The look in the boys eyes is now worried. As the chorus begins she begins to pull his chair towards the window. She struggles at first because be is struggling a bit. She gently pops him on the head. A tear rolls down his face and his eyes look defeated.

She positions his chair in front of the window as she sings the final "...and the day has come where I have died!" She stands up and opens the window as the beat drops and a bright light shines into the room. You can see the entire room now.

The boys close his eyes tightly to shield them from the sun. You can tell he is in pain as his exposed hands and face start to smoke  The towel that was gagging him fall and fangs grow in his mouth. He begins a violent struggle and breaks free of the chair and ropes. He rolls into a shaded part of the room right at Marina's feet. She smiles and reveals a stake from behind he back. She drives it into his heart and he slowly explodes into a dust that sparkles beautifully in the light shining in the room.

As the song fades Marina is walking through the room towards two more people who are tied up. One is the other girl.
