Producer Bangladesh Spills on Fake Writing Credits

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

You may not know who Bangladesh is right off the top of your head, but I promise you've heard his work. He's most known for his insanely bass-heavy beats. Just rattling off the first few that come to mind: "Diva" (Beyoncè), "Bossy" (Kelis), "Sleazy" (Ke$ha), "Cockiness" (Rihanna) and most notably "A Milli" by Lil Wayne." See! I told you that you'd recognize his work. His beats are pretty fucking insane.

Back to the point of this post; Bangladesh recently interviewed with ThatGrapeJuice.com and discussed his career. It was a rather boring interview until they started discussing ethics when it comes to writing credits. Before praising Britney Spears for not giving a shit enough to claim writing credits that weren't rightfully hers, he threw some names around of people who did. Being more specific he said, "Britney don't ask for shit. Then, sometimes if it's a Usher/Beyoncé type of act, you're OK with giving it away because if they sing over your song they're going to bring great attention to it. Producers don't mind giving certain kinds of credit, but it's most African American's that do that kind of stuff."

Interestingly enough, Beyoncé has been accused of "stealing" writing credits or citing other, often very similar works as "inspiration." It seems like as the internet advances and technology makes everything more instant, the music industry continues to show it's uglier side. The side that has in the past been kept behind the scenes so that everything appears more perfected. Producers are becoming as popular as the artist themselves and it seems like a lot of them are speaking out against the treacheries from artists to fans.

Of course I could give to shits about things like writing credits and lip syncing. I'm such a sucker for a masterful production that I don't care if the devil himself wrote it. As long as I can dance to it or be emotionally evoked by the lyrics, I'm caught up. I do enjoy reading your opinions on matters like these, especially the over-defensive stans that always show up when the slightest shade is thrown. So let the comment section have it. What are your thoughts on all of this.

  2. I just really don't see why someone would steal writing credits. Like I don't get it at all. Thank god though and amazing that Britney doesn't do that shit. It's incredible how humble and normal she is but yet people don't even know it.

    1. The sad part it's that she doesn't get the recognition when she does, I mean she wrote Everytime's piano, and the Don't Keep Me Waiting Breakdown. And I'm pretty sure she change the lyrics on Drop Dead from the Demo to the Final
