Why 2013 Will Be The Year of Beyoncé

Monday, December 10, 2012

You know how for the better half of the past decade Beyoncé has been completely unavoidable? Then, she came out with 4, went on a milder promotional route and seemed to kind of disappear with Jay-Z and the baby for a bit. It was like a breath of fresh air. Yes, it's always nice to get a constant flow of Beyoncé, but unlike Katy Perry she's smart enough to know when she needs remove herself from the spotlight for a couple of years.

Well, Bey must feel like she has some making up to do. I'm warning you now, if you're not a Beyoncé fan, you might want to pray for Doomsday 2012 to come to fruition because you will not be able to walk down the street without being reminded of her in some way. I wouldn't be  surprised if we all logged onto Google one day and it was Beyoncé.

Why the Bey-heavy forecast for 2012? Because according to reports, she's sharpened her blade, has her swag on 1,000,000 and has been preparing to scalp our faves down to the skull. Maybe that's why Rihanna went ahead and released Unapologetic instead of waiting until 2013 like she said.

Blame Pepsi. They're not only selecting Beyoncé for their spokeswoman for the next year or more, but they're planning on supporting her all the way through. That means her next single will be the official Pepsi song. She'll also her a new commercial at the Superbowl, were her first single's new music video is very likely to premiere. It also includes a very intricate promotional campaign. That means in your car your favorite radio station play her song, then you'll hear the song again during the commercial as you conveniently drive by the new Beyoncé for Pepsi billboard. If you stop in a gas station, BAM: Beyoncé cardboard cutout. When you get on the bus, BAM: Beyoncé is on the benches, on the side of the bus and probably on the back of the seats. When you sleep, Beyoncé will be chasing you with an iPod that only plays her song and when she catches you, she'll beat you to death with it. When you pee, the sound of the water splashing will probably be in the tune of the new song.

...but fret not. For all of the non fans, you at least have Lady Gaga to look forward too. Plus, the potential for new Adele and Britney Spears is rather high. Hopefully they will lend us at least a temporary break from Beyoncésaurus Rex.

  2. Sorry but no. While Beyonce is still relevant and will most liekly smash next year, it will not be her year. So many artists have so much potential. And there are a lot of big things planned in music next year. Personally, i think there are a few rising stars that are likely to come out with a bang next year and show all our faves how it should truly be done. Beyonce and Britney are products that will not show any originality. Adele will slay. no questions asked. Gaga is an iffy one. It could go both ways. But like I said, there are a few artists prepping to have big breakthroughs next year. And one them will probably become the next "it" girl.

Sorry but no. There are "big things planned in music" EVERY YEAR. Beyonce and Britney are as unoriginal as unoriginal can be but unlike many of their contemporaries, both are as consistent as consistent can be. I don't love Beyonce but next year is slated to be the year of Beyawnce. No one has promotion set up like her and no one is GOING to have promotion like her. Unless some new girl comes and snatches all the wigs (entirely possibly) or Britney promotes her new music, Beyonce is going to have a great year. Whether Beyonce's success is going to be called consensual or forcible rape is still up for debate.
