8 Producers Britney Spears Needs For Album 8

Sunday, December 2, 2012

Happy Birthday, Britney!

Today, the Princess of Pop turns 31. Of course as Britney fans, today is like a national holiday so it just wouldn't feel right if we didn't have at least one fun post about her on the blog

With rumors of another album coming in 2013 (and possibly the last one under RCA, with Interscope looking to swipe her up), I figured we need to help Britney find some producers who are really going to help bring Blackout 2.0 into fruition.

The Obvious...

Max Martin
What's a Britney Spears album without a Max track on it? I mean, Britney's most iconic songs were produced by this guy. Not to mention, most of my favorites belong to him - "3," "If U Seek Amy" and "Hold It Against Me!" If there's anyone who needs to have a permanent spot on Britney's producer list, it's Max.

Bloodshy
Again, this is one of those producer who has given us an great number of incredible Britney tracks already. I mean, "Toxic" is the only song Britney won a Grammy for. Need I say more?

Danja
The man behind the original Blackout album, I think it'd be import to let Danja executive produce again to capture the same magic he did before. The catch is making sure that he doesn't sound dated, because some of his other non-Britney productions are questionable.

  Could Happen...

Bangladesh
I've always wanted to have an true hip-hop track to sing over. "Get Naked" or "Gimme More" is really the closest we've gotten, but a Bangladesh production could turn out to be Britney's first bad bitch anthem! Most people know Bangladesh from Lil Wayne's "A Milli," but he's also worked with Beyoncé  ("Diva," Video Phone"), Rihanna ("Cockiness) and Nicki Minaj ("Did It On Em"). If you can imagine Britney doing her sexy vocal harmonies a la "Ooh Ooh Baby," but over a much harder track, you'll understand why this collaboration needs to happen.

Lazy Jay
Most people think will.i.am producer "Scream & Shout" but it was actually produced by Lazy Jay. If the name sounds familiar, it's because he worked on Azealia Bank's incredible "212" record. He's a newer producer, so I think he could bring something fresh to the album that we aren't hearing from other pop artist. Plus, even the people that hate "Scream & Shout" love the beat.

Klas Åhlund
This guy has been producing since the 90s, but most of his best work has been a lot more recent. He's produced all of Robyn's best songs! "We Dance To The Beat," "Indestructable," & "Time Machine" are just a few. He also worked on my two favorite Ke$ha songs "Blow" and "Sleazy." What I like about this guy is that he doesn't just give his songs away for a hit. He produces with the intent of bringing a new side out of the artist. If you've heard any of the songs I've listed above, they all sound like they could have been produced by different people. Granted, he did work with Robyn on writing Britney's "Piece of Me," he hasn't produced for her yet.

Unlikely...

Zedd
Aside from the fact that Lady Gaga has him working hard on ARTPOP, I'd love for this guy to throw Britney a track or two. His music is pretty intensely club oriented, but with mainstream radio's hunger for dance music evolving a little bit every year, I think he's going to be cranking out hits. His style of production would be perfect for Blackout's evolution into 2013. He would probably work better on a co-production with another hitmaker like Shellback for someone like Britney. Still, I think it'd work and slay lives.

Sleigh Bells
A personal favorite band of mine. Not a traditional production team, but they did write a song for Beyoncé that she liked enough to record, though it was scrapped from the album. The great thing about the Sleigh Bells is that this could really go in any direction. Where I hope this collaboration would take us is like an electrified, noisy version of something like "Hold It Against Me." It would probably call for a co-production and a lot of yelling from Britney, but I think this could be magic. Is this a stretch? Maybe, but I want to find out! Someone call Adam Leber!

My suggestion: Find all of these people. Hire some writers. Lock them all in a basement. Trick Britney into the basement with promises of new weaves and Starbucks. Wait.

It will come!

What producers would you guys like to see Britney work with?

  1. I want Neptunes, Dr Luke and Darkchild.

  2. Whatever happens, I'm going to need this next album to be an auto-tune free zone. Brit CAN sing if she's pushed and that's exactly what she needs to prove. We want Britney to be here to slay and there to stay.

  3. Danja is enough for me. :)

  4. Neptunes should definitely be added to this list

  5. I'd say Max Martin and Dr Luke will be there for sure. But I want Max, Shellback, Danja (Executive Producer along with Brit), Darkchild, Zedd co-producing with Max, Bloodshy & Avant aka Toxic 2.0, K. Ahlund (Piece of Me is flawless) and a Danja/Isabella Summers (Florence + The Machine) who produced the flawless Breathe of Life, The Neptunes (Slave) making their best hiphop/dance track ever (Slave meets Gimme More, Hollaback Girl & Get Back), Ammo (DDB, Kesha's Out Alive, Hungover and Blind, Adam's Better Than I Know Myself) with Darkchild dropping some rock-oriented beats here and there.

  9. Sleigh Bells did NOT write anything for Beyonce. The real story is that Beyonce wanted to sample "Kids" on a track for '4'. She got permission, paid for the sample, but it wasn't used in the long run. It's unknown whether it was supposed to be for a song that currently exists on 4, or a track didn't that didn't make the cut.

    1. i thought it was supposed to be used on "girls (run the world)," but then she decided to use "pon de floor" instead.

    2. It was a collaboration called "He's The 1." Doesn't sample kids. Heard it.

    3. "He's The 1" has no input from neither Derek nor Alexis. So I don't know what you're talking about.

  10. BILLBOARD! and bloodshy & avant

  11. omg please no darkchild. He is so outdated and has produced nothing but flops upon flops in this millennium. Danja is an obvious one, but Billboard & Ammo are definitely ones I'd agree to throw in the mix. The one I'm surprised no one has mentioned is Cirkut... He's absolutely slaying on all of Ke$ha's best songs and I know he would blow the roof off Blackout 2.0. GET READY GIRLS!

    1. Darkchild has improved. I didn't even know "As Long As You Love Me" by Justin Bieber was produced by him since it sounded so relevant.

  12. MAX MARTIN, SHELLBACK, DANJA, ZEDD, K. AHLUND, THE NEPTUNES, BlOODSHY & AVANT, AND BRITNEY HERSELF AS THE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER and maybe Lazy Jay and will.i.am (their productions are too repetitive imo).

  13. Danja, Bloodshy and Avant, Darkchild + maybe one Max Martin Track but without Dr. Luke!!!!!

That is all i need :)
