Sellout Alert: Skylar Grey Figures Out Sex Sells

Thursday, November 1, 2012

Eminem's dark haired, emo artist Skylar Grey, who sang such emotionally charged songs like her 2011 single "Invisible" - which had lyrics...
"Even when I'm walking on a wire / Even when I set myself on fire / Why do I always feel invisible, invisible / Everyday I try to look my best / Even though inside I'm such a mess / Why do I always feel invisible, invisible"
....has decided to fry some blonde highlights in her hair, ditch the shirt, and push her breasts so far forward to the point that her, now concave, spinal cord is on the brink of snapping in half.

Yesterday, Skylar confirmed that the lead single to her debut album "Don't Look Down" is titled "C'mon Let Me Ride" and will feature Eminem.

Skylar told Rolling Stone that 'Ride' is "an X-rated kids' song," and will sample Queen's song "Bicycle Ride." Given the sample and the direction of the song - I think we all can pick up on the innuendo.

Skylar added that she's not selling out, but rather she's taking a jab at "overly sexified music, media and the girls who try and imitate it."

Bitch, who are you trying to fool? Isn't that the same "issue awareness" and "satire" nonsense Kiely Williams tried to pull after that hot mess of a track, and my guilty pleasure, "Spectacular" premiered?: "I wrote Spectacular and made the video to bring attention to a serious womens health and safety issue. Dont shoot the messenger."

2011:

2012:

Just filthy. The sad thing is that the song probably will give her the needed buzz to launch her album. Even if its not a mainstream hit on radio, all you need these days is to go viral. Just ask Keri Hilson, who set the blogs a blaze with sexually-charged promotional single "The Way You Love Me" from her 2010 album "No Boys Allowed."

The music video for "C'mon Let Me Ride" has already been filmed and will premiere with the song on December 11.

  1. This is a smart move for her. Selling albums relying on only depressing gothic moods hasn't been commercially viable since Evanescense and punk band days. Just ask Lana why she's not doing too well in the US. Actually, she may not even be aware of why.

  2. ho it out sky, i'm not mad.
she's a young female in the music industry, if she doesn't sell sex her label won't support her projects.
it's an unfortunate concession, but if it gives her the platform to express her artistry then it's clearly worth it to her since she's doing it.
