August is almost here, which means it's VMA season! The 2012 show will be held September 6th at The Staples Center in LA.
Here's some "predictions" on the ceremony.
Apparently, Kevin Hart will once again take the 2012 stage, but this year filling the shoes of Jo Calderone as host. It's kind of odd since Hart just hosted the 2012 BET Awards, but since they are bother networks under Viacom and produced by the same people, it isn't a far cry. For some reason, Britney fans think that she'll be hosting the ceremony, but that's definitely false.
P!nk is definitely performing, as is No Doubt. Neither of those are shocking, really. More interesting are the rumors that Christina Aguilera will give the first performance of her first single there. Mariah? Probably not, but I don't doubt that MTV will try and get her on the stage to perform the pop version of her new track. They're gonna need all the big name performers they can get if they want to top Beyoncé's baby bump, Gaga's drag show and Britney's "tribute."
I'd like to see G.O.O.D. Music take the stage, and I'd also enjoy seeing MTV show Lana Del Ray and/or Frank Ocean some love with Best New Artist, though if it's viewer polling, count on Carly Rae Jepson or someone else a lot less interesting. I see Gotye and Kanye sweeping and Fun. getting shaded.
Again, just predictions... but we'll know 100% when MTV announces everything in the coming weeks. Hopefully more soon!

ReplyDeleteAlthough the VMAs don't revolve around Gaga it's going to be weird not seeing her this year as she's touring, she's always been one of the highlights of the show.
ReplyDeleteIn 2009 we had that epic Paparazzi performance where she bled to death and hung herself, and that performance turned many people into Little Monsters.In 2010 she didn't perform but she did reveal the title of Born This Way, and there was her infamous meat dress which people still talk about.2011 we had Jo Calderone for a whole night with the performance of You & I with Brian May from Queen.
I'm saying the 2012 VMAs will flop without Gaga, but it'll be weird with her not being there.

DeleteIt's called that because it's a MAJOR theme used in Gaga's next album. The amazing thing is that it's been planned since 4 years ago. THE FAME era was meant to go through a few stages: RISE, PEAK, FALL, decay. Gaga has made it clear on littlemonsters.com that she doesn't think of each album as an era, but instead as a stage in her progression as an artist. Her entire life, the costumes and all, are apart of an elaborate performance art. Have you seen her lately? She's been acting very HOLLYWOOD - the antithesis of her initial image. This is PURPOSEFUL. She's "selling out" and "getting wasted" for the purpose of portraying the DECAY: as an artist, as a woman. She's going to REBIRTH herself very soon - but she's gotta MAKE SURE the public think she's completely DEAD. So much to say! :) That's it for now. YOU'LL SEE! :) :)
