What a tragic way to start your morning.
TMZ is reporting that Donna Summer lost her battle with cancer this morning.
If you're unfamiliar with Donna Summer, she is the undisputed Queen of Disco. She was not only able to snatch up 5 Grammy Awards at the height of her career, but she also created many timeless anthems, like "Bad Girl" and "Love To Love You Baby" which was sampled by Beyoncé in "Naughty Girl." Even this year Madonna sampled "On The Radio" on her MDNA album.
My favorite Donna Summer had to be "I Feel Love" which still serves as the Official Gay Anthem and I'm sure will begin resurfacing on club charts very shortly. It also ranked as one of Rolling Stone's original top 500 songs.
Believe it or not, Summer is a large center of influence for a lot of dance songs we hear on the radio today.
Toot Toot. Beep Beep.
jesus your blog blows
ReplyDeleteThis is so sad. She was a great singer and equally great person. She gave us so many great memories. She will be missed. May she rest in peace in the hands of God.
