Remember the Pussycat Dolls 1.0? Well, then you may also remember Melody Thornton. She was one of the back-up... singers (?!) of the group and she has released her first mixtape yesterday.
You can stream the mixtape titled "P.O.Y.B.L" a.k.a. "Piss On Your Black List" on SoundCloud.

"Definitely the most talented PCD ever"
01. Intro ***
Oh wow.. this is an impressive beginning of a mixtape. Her vocals are on point and it's really making me wanna listen to the mixtape.
02. Sweet Vendetta *****
Probably the one of the best songs on the mixtape. Her vocals are on point again and the whole production is really good. The old sound suits her vocals very well and I just love the horns on the song.

03. Lipstick & Guilt [No Church In The Wild] ****
Lipstick & Guilt is a cover of Jay and Ye's "No Church In The Wild". She has changed the lyrics and made a nice melody to the instrumental. The original is way better, but this is a very good track as well. She kept the same structure which has been a good choice. The harmonies on this track are really good and her runs, which she was famous for in her PCD times, make the track even better.
04. Smoking Gun ***
Melody showcases some really good vocals on this interlude. The beat is kind of haunting and mysterious, which makes the track really interesting. It's a good album filler and I was surprised it was just a interlude. I would've loved to hear a full version of this track.
05. Loving You Better ***
The song starts out with a nice guitarrif, which drags you into the song. It caught my attention immediately. "Loving You Better" is a cute song. Her vocals are a little bit weaker on this track than on the other songs, but it's still good. She tried to serve this song soft and sweet, but it just came off a bit too polished.
06. Crazy Mixed Girl - no stars.
... lame ass interlude. That's all.
07. The One That Got Away ***
At first, when I saw the songtitle, I was like... is this a cover of Katy Perry's song lol, but it isn't. Melody brings us back to the Motown days in this song. It's very cute, but nothing special tho. The vocals aren't that amazing as well, but again.. the harmonies are on point.
08. Bulletproof feat. Bobby Newberry ****
Yes, Melody covered La Roux's "Bulletproof". You may think that La Roux's version is hard to top, but this version brings the song to a whole other level. I really love the acoustic version of the song and Thornton and Newberry's voices blend nicely together. Melody showcases her low voice, which is so beautiful. Even though I knew every word of the song, it felt like it was a completely new song to me. The ending... >>>
09. Someone To Believe *****
Oh wow... her vocals are so beautiful on this song. The track is so classical and i really love the strings in the beginning of the song. OMG, as I'm writing this review, I'm listening to this song again and it's giving me chills EVERYWHERE. WHY THE HELL IS THIS SONG SO SHORT?! I wanted a big ass climax, but the two minutes were long enough to give me the climax tho.
10. Hit The Ground Runnin' *****
And this song is makes as much impact as "Someone To Believe". Her vocals over the piano/strings are beautiful. You can feel that the track is building up to a climax. Even tho there isn't a big climax in this song, it's still an amazing song.
This mixtape is def going to be on my iPod. I'm so impressed! I hope people will really take the time to listen to this mixtape cause it's amazing. Def one of the best mixtapes out there right now.
4 stars out of 5
