OMG: Regina Spektor Returns!

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

"All The Rowboats" is being called, by some, the comeback single for Regina Spektor. Let me correct you; Regina generally has the same amount of space between each album. It's time. My bodies internal clock has been ticking, begging for new music from the Queen of Anti-Folk.

It seems like her music is being more and more produced and less indie-sounding, but it works so well in her case. "Begin To Hope" was a drastic increase in production quality from Soviet Kitsch. Far followed the same trend. Still, even though her music seems to be turning more and more towards mainstream, she has lost an ounce of quirkiness or wit. Her lyrics are still at the top of the food chain .

Regina is unfuckwithable. Nobody who does what she does can do it as good as she does it.

With that said, "All of the Rowboats" is a dark feeling mid-tempo ballad, filled haunting piano chords, verbally chanted drum hits and lyrics deeper than the Atlantic Ocean. It will certainly please anyone who isn't entirely on board with her polishing her sound more and more. Let me add that I am obsessed with the rock guitar randomly sprinkled in the song.

Check it out below.

Let me know what you think.
