Nicki Minaj continues on the confusing promo trail for her new album by releasing two more new songs next week. According to TheYBF, Minaj will debut "Roman Holiday" at the Grammy Ceremony on Sunday. The following day she release "Starship" on radio and send "Roman Holiday" to iTunes. Exciting news for Minaj fans, but I'm a little confused about her promotion methods.
Why would you not use the Grammy Awards, one of the most respected and watched awards shows, as a platform to debut your new single? It's backwards. If I was Nicki's manager, this whole era would have went completely different. I would have had her perform "Stupid Hoe" on New Years eve, and sent it to radio the next day. She could have gained enough buzz from that alone to release a proper first single at the beginning of February and still come out with her album on Valentine's Day. Of course, I'd also have her stopping by Letterman, Ellen and The Talk to perform and talk about her album. Then she needs to be doing interviews with big blogs like Rap-UP and MTV Buzzworthy. The cherry on top would be the weekend long radio deal that has Nicki Minaj calling radio stations all over the US in exchange for playing her song at the top of every hour, at least.
Ugh. Anyways, backing away from my ego, I'm really excited to hear the new material.
I am so confused. I thought Va Va Voom was being released next?
