What kind of flawless 80s-inspired radio anthem?
Alright, I'll admit it! I thought Carly Rae Jepsen hit a glass ceiling with "Call Me Maybe," especially when "Good Time" with that awkward Owl City guy didn't even bring in a fraction of the success. But behold, "This Kiss," the official second single and future Top 10 Billboard hit.
Let me backtrack for a minute. This song is by no means amazing by any standard. It's a basic pop song that does everything right. Danceable beat, catchy and oversimplified lyrics, imitable vocals that don't intimidate listeners and most importantly, Carly still has everyone thinking she's 16, even though she's older than Adele and Lady Gaga. All of that and you have a radio masterpiece.
Where Carly goes horribly right is by ignoring popular themes on mainstream radio and reviving one of the greatest times in music, the bubbly dance sound popularized by artist like Madonna and Cindi Lauper in the 40s 80s.
It's not something I'd expect to work often, especially since electronic dance and dubstep music are so big right now, but everything just seems to come together perfectly in this song.
At this rate, Carly is looking to give us Teenage Dream 2.0... not sonically similar, but an album filled with songs blessed by the gods of radio.
Take a listen below.

I don't think this could be a big radio hit like good time or call me maybe because the chorus sints are a little bit too loud so it kind of damages the vocals, it was almost a perfect teenage dream song, the chorus needed to be more strong
