I didn't think I would have to post this, but due to overwhelming demand, here's a stream of Frank Ocean's new album, Channel Orange, which hit iTunes a week early. Perfect promotional opportunity for Frank who has been in the media a lot lately after bravely admitting to being bisexual. The "coming-out" party was celebrated by several artists, including collaborator Beyoncé.
So how's the music? At first listen, this album is smooth. Probably the smoothest album since Lana Del Rey's Born to Die. Interestingly enough, Frank has been labeled the "black Lana Del Rey" by some blogs. He's definitely establishing himself as a premiere song writer. Lyrically, this album is profound, casting light over a dark industry more blatant and salacious lyricism sell records.
No song stood out immediately, but that's because they're all fucking great.
You can check out ElectroLov3's quick track-by-track review for an opinion who understands R&B a lot better than I do, on top of being an actual Frank Ocean fan with an unbiased opinion.
