Review: Girls Gone Wild

Monday, February 27, 2012

Finally, we have some new Madonna that sounds like it could possibly have some longevity. A lot more than "Give Me All Your Lovin'." The track reminds us of the Benny Benassi Remix of Celebration. The base is actually extremely familiar to a few Benassi productions, but hey, I'm not complaining. They guy makes hot records.

Although. we haven't heard the remix that's going to radio or VEVO yet, we have got an exclusive first listen to the album version. Edit: Apparently, this is the radio mix but with the intro...

The lyrics are smooth and sexy, while seemingly innocent. She even has a prayer at the beginning of the song where she begs for forgiveness for being a "bad girl." Oh, Madonna, we much prefer you be a bad girl than try and clean up your image. Thank God for you being a complete whore.

Oh, my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins, because I dread the loss of heaven, and the pains of hell. but most of all because I love Thee, And I want so badly to be good.

Powerful shit, eh? Especially because this song is filled with confessions of being "erotic," which Madonna has pretty much based her entire career from.

Still, not sure what the radio version will sound like, but Madge definitely gets an A+ for taking us back to "Confessions on a Dancefloor" and giving us a solid, wonderfully produced dance track.

  13. She already did "Act of Contrition" on "Like A Prayer". Did she forget? She forgot she already had a song called "Forbidden Love". Weird. Song sucks anyway.

  15. Yeah, this is good. But it's not original: I mean the whole 'derivative' thing she was crapping on Gaga's head for. The chord changes are just as (if not more) obvious - its been done before & there's also some obvious (& definitely conscious) lyrical references. Being hypocritical is one thing but being a hypocrite about something that is exactly the same as what you commented negatively on about someone else's work is worse... WAY worse. It makes me lose respect for the artist.

  20. This song is TRUE Madonna. Let me explain: Her greatest hits, Like a Prayer and Express Yourself, among others will show how strongly they weren't her own.

I get chills at the choir singing in Like A Prayer and Express Yourself, not Madonna. It's never been Madonna doing things just for herself.

In this new song, she's finally showing her true artistic colors. She's nothing without her back-up singers and dancers.

At least Gaga can sit down at a piano and break-down her songs, live. But to be fair, Girl Gone Wild is sleek and cool.

It just lacks depth and, well, personality. Oh the irony!

"Girls just want to have fun!" Go back to AMERICAN LIFE days Madonna... at least your singing was better.

  23. Wow, the woman can still get the crowds talking right ?

The review was amazingly detailed and true.

The song is boring and bland. This is the most planed, calculated and executed chart attack ever. Of course the song will reach the top ten, the album will reach number one, the tour will sell out all over the world. I also was hoping for a more deep, different, creative output of our pop queen, but I still love her. No one else, besides Prince, can still ignite the masses of fans and stir controversy, well sort of. It's truly amazing to read some of these very emotional, down right nasty, and very loving comments of the most amazing female artist of our time.

Lots of love to all of you. M.S.

although there are parts where it does sound a bit like an Eastern European folk song, but i'm all for inclusion XD
